Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare the ingredients. Immediately you need to put the chicken fillet to boil so that it cooks faster, you can cut the meat into small pieces, boil the chicken breast or other part in salted water until ready, drain the water, cool the meat.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Potatoes are washed, cleaned and put in a saucepan, pour cold water, put on fire. Add a pinch of salt. Potatoes, unlike chicken fillet, are not boiled until fully cooked, we check the readiness with the tip of a knife. Turn off the fire when the potatoes are still a little hard, drain the water, let the potatoes cool down. Then we cut it into circles.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

While the chicken and potatoes are cooking, we will prepare the dough for the pie. The dough will be yeast-free, based on margarine. Margarine is allowed to soften at room temperature, if you don't want to wait for it to soften, you can melt it in the microwave, but then you need to wait for it to cool down. Rub the margarine with a pinch of salt.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Drive a chicken egg into a bowl with margarine. Stir the ingredients.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Pour in the sifted wheat flour, combined with baking powder. Add flour in small portions, stirring the mass with a spoon. When the dough begins to gather into a lump, we spread it on the work surface sprinkled with flour and continue kneading with our hands.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

You should get a smooth, soft dough. But you do not need to add too much flour so that the dough does not turn out tight. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for an hour.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Cut the cooled potatoes into circles. The cooled chicken meat is cut into small cubes. Onions are cleaned from the husk and finely chopped with a knife.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Divide the "rested" dough into two parts. We roll out each of them into a layer according to the size of the pie baking dish. In a greased form, we spread the first part of the dough.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Grease the dough with melted butter. On top we spread layers of potatoes, chicken meat and onions. Salt and pepper to taste.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

We close the pie with a second layer of dough, we fasten the edges, in the center we make a small hole for steam to escape during baking the pie. Grease the pie with beaten egg yolk. Bake the pie for 30 minutes at a temperature of 180 degrees. We take the pie out of the oven and serve it to the table. Bon appetit!
