Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Prepare all the necessary products. Of course, it is better to use young potatoes, but if there is none, then last year's will do. Mayonnaise is preferable to homemade, of its own production. Store-bought mayonnaise is not useful at all, and even to some extent harmful.
Step 2:
Peel the potatoes. Try to cut off the thin skin. It's not so easy to do this with a knife, so I recommend using a vegetable peeler - it cleans potatoes perfectly.
Step 3:
Slice the peeled potatoes in any convenient way. For me, these are semicircles, but there may be mugs and cubes. The main thing is not to get too small when slicing, otherwise the potatoes will turn into mashed potatoes when baking, but they still have to keep their shape.
Step 4:
Salt the sliced potatoes.
Step 5:
Add chopped garlic. I grate it on a fine grater, but you can also chop garlic with a knife or pass it through a press. If for some reason you do not have fresh garlic, feel free to change it to garlic powder.
Step 6:
Add mayonnaise. Of course, if desired, sour cream, thick yogurt, and heavy cream can be used instead of mayonnaise.
Step 7:
Mix everything well. Also at this stage you can add your favorite herbs and seasonings to the potatoes. Provencal herbs, thyme, rosemary, and simply ground allspice or paprika are quite suitable here. Or maybe it will be grated cheese. Choose according to your taste!
Step 8:
Put the potatoes in a heat-resistant mold. Bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for about 35-40 minutes. You can cover the mold with foil, - then the potatoes will turn out stewed, or you can open 10 minutes before the end of baking, - then there will be a light crispy golden. If you prefer the crispy version of the dish, then do not cover the mold with foil at all.
Step 9:
Such potatoes are delicious both hot and cold. You can serve it as an independent dish - it is very self-sufficient and satisfying! Or it can be in the form of a side dish to meat and fish dishes, but it will already be very satisfying! Bon appetit!
