Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
I found this recipe in a German cookbook, it was from it that I learned how to bake onions in the oven. I liked this method for its simplicity. I have improved the recipe a little. So, we prepare the products according to the list.
Step 2:
Peel and wash the onion and garlic.
Step 3:
Then put the onion in boiling water for 10 minutes so that it becomes a little soft, then put it in a colander to drain the water and cool down.
Step 4:
Cut off the tops of the cooled onion with a sharp knife, then carefully, so as not to damage the outer layer of the onion (preferably with a teaspoon), remove the core. We should have cups consisting of 2-3 outer layers of bulbs
Step 5:
Finely chop the cores and tops of the onion. Garlic is finely chopped or crushed using a garlic press. In a preheated frying pan with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, fry the onion, garlic and dry rosemary for 2 minutes. If someone does not like the smell or taste of rosemary, you can replace it with parsley, dill, thyme or any other seasoning.
Step 6:
Add cream, mix and remove from heat.
Step 7:
Mix grated cheese on a coarse grater, add salt and pepper.
Step 8:
Mix everything carefully.
Step 9:
Grease the onion baking dish with olive oil and put onion cups in it. We fill the cups with the prepared onion mixture, sprinkle grated cheese on top and decorate with a sprig of rosemary (or other herbs).
Step 10:
In a preheated oven to 200 degrees, put the onion for baking for 25 minutes.
Step 11:
We take the finished onion out of the oven, put it on plates, decorate with tomato slices, herbs, serve hot. Baked onion is ready.
Step 12:
That's how beautifully you can arrange a dish when serving!
Step 13:
Bon appetit!
For lovers of meat food, I can recommend adding finely chopped smoked brisket or bacon to the fried onion mixture before baking, or wrap each onion cup with a slice of bacon and fix it with a toothpick. Baked onion is perfect for meat or fish dishes, and is also served independently as a hot snack.
