Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 2 hours
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make a fatir? Prepare the ingredients, since there are very few of them. We will only need butter to lubricate semi-finished products from the dough. Take the flour of the highest grade. Water - bottled or filtered, at room temperature.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Chop the peeled, washed and dried onions into thin half rings. Lightly salt the onion and remember it with your hands. To prevent the smell from passing to your hands, do it with gloves.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Sift wheat flour separately in a bowl. Add salt to it, pour in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and water. Knead the elastic dough. According to the consistency, it should be like a dumpling. Keep in mind that you may have more or less flour than me!

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Roll the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Divide the cooled dough into three equal parts.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Lubricate the work surface of the table with vegetable oil, the rolling pin too. Roll out each part of the dough into a very thin rectangular layer. The dough should literally shine through, but you need to be very careful not to tear it.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Put part of the onion on the edge of the dough layer as shown in the photo.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Wrap the dough layer in a thin and long roll.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Roll a strip of dough with stuffing into a snail as shown in the photo. Leave each snail on the table for 10 minutes, covering them with cling film so that the dough does not chafe.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Grease the baking sheet with vegetable oil. Transfer the snails to a baking sheet. With oiled hands, gently stretch them into thin cakes. Brush the tortillas on top with melted butter, make the pricks with a fork. If you added a little salt to the dough, you can also add coarse salt to the tortillas.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

Bake the tortillas until golden brown. I'm not writing how long it will take, because it depends only on the characteristics of your oven. Follow the process. Remove the fatres from the oven, sprinkle them lightly with water and cover with a towel. Leave them like this for 15-20 minutes. During this time, they will become soft.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Serve the tortillas with tea or as an addition to some dish instead of bread.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

    Bon appetit!
