Honey baklava

Delicious oriental sweets at home. Probably, many people who have ever tried various national delicacies during their holidays in eastern countries, for example, honey baklava, wanted to cook it themselves and please the household. And it is quite possible. However, there is no consensus about the country of origin of this dish, it is prepared both in Turkey and in Greece, therefore there are several baklava recipes. The only thing that unites them all is that baklava is prepared from thin layers of dough, inside there is a sweet filling and necessarily honey and oil filling.

    Prepare the ingredients. All products must be removed from the refrigerator in advance so that they are at room temperature.

    Put the softened butter in a bowl, if there is no time to wait for it to soften at room temperature, you can soften it in a microwave oven at low power. We also send sour cream there and drive in one chicken egg. Mix everything thoroughly with a tablespoon or blender.

    Pour the flour sifted and combined with baking powder in parts. Very quickly knead elastic smooth dough. Flour may require a little more or less, depending on the density and quality of the products.

    We collect it into a ball. We wrap the dough in cling film and put it in the refrigerator for a while while we are engaged in filling for baklava. Thanks to this operation, the dough will turn out layered, which is required for the recipe.

    Nuts can be used for filling any, you can mix walnuts, peanuts and almonds. But there should be more walnuts, we immediately put 22 pieces of walnut halves aside, they will be required for the design of baklava.

    The nuts are thoroughly washed and dried in a microwave oven.

    Put them in a blender bowl, add sugar and cinnamon, chop them, but so that they are larger than crumbs. The blender can be replaced with a simple meat grinder or rolling pin.

    We take the dough out of the refrigerator. We divide it into 7 parts. Each layer is rolled into a rectangular layer with a thickness of about 0.3 centimeters. The filling for baklava should be divided into six identical parts.

    Put the first layer in a greased mold. We spread the nut filling on top, and so we do with the whole dough. The top layer of the dough remains without filling.

    We cut the dough with the filling into parallel strips, but we do not reach the bottom with a knife. Then we also cut without touching the last layer of dough diagonally to make rhombuses.

    Grease the dough with beaten chicken egg on top. For each diamond in the middle we put a piece of walnut. The oven is heated to 200 degrees. We put baklava in the oven for 15 minutes.

    Melt the butter. Take the baklava out of the oven and pour it with melted butter. We update the incisions if necessary. We put baklava in the oven for another half an hour.

    Preparing honey filling. We cook sugar syrup on the stove, combining sugar with water and cook until slightly thickened. Then add honey to the mixture, mix.

    We take the baklava out of the oven and fill it with honey filling. Let it soak a little and cool down. We cut it already to the end, put it on a dish and serve it to the table. Have a nice tea party!
