Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h 20 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make volovany baskets or tartlets from puff pastry with red caviar? To prepare our festive beautiful snack, prepare the necessary ingredients. Pre-defrost the puff pastry in the refrigerator without removing it from the package. You can use both dough in plates and rolled into a roll. Remove the butter from the refrigerator beforehand - it should be at room temperature.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Beat the egg lightly with a fork.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Put the dough on a flour-dusted table and roll it out slightly in one direction to a thickness of about 7 mm. With a round notch or a glass with a diameter of about 5 cm, cut out 40-50 circles from the dough.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

At half of the circles, using another recess of a smaller diameter (3-4 cm), cut out the middle and take them out.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

On the one hand, smooth circles will turn out, and on the other, the same number of round rims that will serve as walls for the volovans.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Cover the baking sheet with parchment and put whole circles of dough on it and gently smear the egg on top.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Spread the rims on top and press lightly. Also lubricate them with egg, trying not to let it fall on the sidewalls, as this will prevent the dough from rising. Put the baking sheet with puff blanks in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Then put the volovans in a preheated 180 ° C oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes until the volume increases and a golden crust appears. It is advisable to put a baking tray with water on the bottom of the oven so that the puff pastry rises better or sprinkle water from the spray a couple of times.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Remove the finished volovans from the oven and press down the middle with your fingers or a spoon handle, as they will also rise during baking. Cool the blanks.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Butter can be distributed over the blanks with an ordinary spoon, but I prefer to use a pastry bag with a small nozzle "closed star". With its help, you can form beautiful stars from the oil.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

In the cooled volovans, remove a little soft butter from the bag.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Spread 1 tsp of red caviar on top.

  13. Step 13:

    Step 13.

Decorate the volovans with butter stars and parsley sprigs. Serve immediately. If the feeding is not planned immediately, put the volovans in a container and close the lid tightly so that the caviar does not curl, and put it in the refrigerator. In the same way, you need to store the remains of this snack. Bon appetit!
