Composition / ingredients
Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Ingredients for shortbread dough.
Step 2:
Combine the soft butter with sugar and mix.
Step 3:
Add 1 egg and yolk, mix.
Step 4:
Then add the slaked soda and flour. We pour the flour gradually, not all the flour may go away.
Step 5:
Knead the dough quickly, it should turn out very soft, slightly sticky. Wrap the dough in a film and put it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Step 6:
From a part of the dough, roll out a round cake about 0.5 cm thick and about 22 cm in diameter on a greased baking sheet. Bake it at 200 degrees. about 10 minutes.
Step 7:
Meanwhile, from the rest of the dough, we roll balls no more than 2 cm in diameter.
Step 8:
The cake turned red. Immediately level it on the plate.
Step 9:
Similarly bake the balls until golden brown. Cool it down.
Step 10:
Ingredients for the cream.
Step 11:
Mix sour cream with sugar and vanilla, add orange zest. Let the sugar dissolve. You can divide the cream into 2 cups, lower the balls into one, let them soak a little.
Step 12:
Lubricate the cake liberally with cream, let it soak in and lubricate again.
Step 13:
We put the balls tightly to each other on the cake, we lubricate the cream abundantly on top.
Step 14:
We stack the rest of the balls with a slide, greasing each layer well with cream. We also coat the cake on top so that the balls are as little visible as possible.
Step 15:
Decorate the cake as desired. You can sprinkle with grated chocolate. We put the cake in the refrigerator for 12-16 hours to soak well.
Step 16:
Cut the cake into pieces and help ourselves! Have a nice tea party!
The cake got its name due to the fact that when it is cut, a "surprise" is detected, i.e. it is clear on the slice that the cake consists of balls.
