Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to freeze a plum for the winter? For this preparation, choose a sweet, ripe plum, with a sour skin and with a dense pulp. It will be convenient to work with this one when removing bones.
Step 2:
Remove the plum from the twigs and wash it under running water. This should be done carefully to remove the maximum amount of contamination. Drain the drain in a colander to drain all the water. When frozen, excess moisture will give a large amount of frost in the packages.
Step 3:
Use a small knife to make longitudinal vertical incisions on the drains. Take care of your hands so as not to be circumcised!
Step 4:
Turn the resulting halves in opposite directions relative to each other around the bone. This method allows you to conveniently and quickly remove the bones from the plums. By the way, I do exactly the same when I peel any fruit with a large stone, especially avocados and mangoes.
Step 5:
So, remove the bones from all the prepared plums. The peel can be removed, or you can leave it. This is purely optional. Fruit slicing can also be absolutely arbitrary. Focus on which dishes you plan to add plum to. I'm going to bake my favorite pie with this plum, so I'll leave the halves.
Step 6:
Divide the prepared plum into small portions, about one dish. And distribute in one layer in dense bags designed specifically for freezing. Instead, you can use special vacuum packaging bags, zip-lock bags, or even freezing containers. The main rule: a small portion and proper styling, so that the fruits do not stick together in one lump.
Step 7:
Store the plum in the freezer with a temperature of -18 °C and below.
It is better to store such blanks in the freezer for no longer than 6 months. I keep frozen fruits on the same shelf with berries, mushrooms and vegetables.
The plum practically does not lose its properties after defrosting, and even in baking it does not notice a difference at all.
Bon appetit!
It is very convenient to make labels on packages with home freezing, where to indicate what is frozen and when (write with a pencil, since ink from the pen may leak). So you will surely know the shelf life and easily find what you need in a full freezer.
