Step 1:
How to freeze wild cherry? The recipe is as simple as anything ingenious. Fresh wild cherry itself, disposable containers or bags for freezing are needed. It is advisable to buy wild cherry and freeze it on the day of its collection, then it is the most juicy and fragrant. For freezing, it is better to take not the earliest, but with an overgrown fleshy stem. Here everything will go into action, both the stem and the leaf. I have Sayan cherry, how good it is!
Step 2:
Soak the wild cherry in cold water to completely hide it, leave for 10-15 minutes. Soaking will allow the greens to recover and it will be easier to rinse. Rinse very carefully not only the stem, but also each leaf on both sides, it is better to use cool running water. When rinsing, clean the burgundy film from the root part. This is the most troublesome stage of preparation, but it is very important, the greens should be perfectly clean.
Step 3:
Let the water drain and spread the greens on a cotton towel, blot the other on top and let it dry a little.
Step 4:
Take the wild cherry with a small bunch, update the slice. Finely chop the stem, chop the leaf even smaller. The leaf can be cut very thinly — for dressing and 0.4 cm — for salads, toasting. Pour different cuts into a bag or container, with mandatory labeling. Where to specify what it is and for what, do not forget to set the date. It is convenient for me to freeze wild cherry in such containers.
Step 5:
I alternately put a layer of chopped stem, a layer of a wider ribbon of foliage and so on to the top. And in smaller containers — very fine cutting of foliage, I mix it more often with green onions, dill. It goes well into soups, for second courses. Close the container tightly and label it. As it is filled, put it in the refrigerator for pre-cooling. When everything is ready, quickly move it to the freezer for long-term storage.
From 2-3 large bundles, a little more than 2 containers of 0.5 liters of frozen wild cherry are obtained.
The shelf life of the freeze is 6 months. From practice, a good freezer has excellent storage until the next harvest.
Keep in mind that the longer the product is stored, the less useful substances remain.
What can be made from frozen wild cherry?
This is a plant with a specific garlic aroma and taste.
Wild cherry can be used as a filling in pies and pies, tortillas, as the main or additional ingredient of the original salad. It is fried, added to scrambled eggs or omelet, when baking meat and fish. Extremely delicious soups are prepared with wild cherry.
