Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Prepare the brine. Salt, sugar, pepper and bay leaf are filled with water. For a more spicy taste, you can add two or three clove buds.
Step 2:
Bring to a boil. I usually boil for about five minutes. So, it seems to me that the brine turns out to be more saturated. Spices reveal their taste and aroma. Then we put it to cool.
Step 3:
The fish must first be thawed. Of course, those who live near the ocean and can buy fresh herring are lucky. Fish is recommended to defrost slowly. Therefore, we defrost it in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf. After thawing, we wash the fish. We examine it carefully and sniff it. Yes, yes. If you feel an unpleasant smell, then the product is clearly spoiled.
Step 4:
We put the fish in a suitable container. I will salt it in a plastic container with a lid. You can use a glass container, such as a jar. Fill the herring with cooled brine. We close the lid and send it to the refrigerator. After two days we get it.
Step 5:
Cut off the head, take out the insides. We remove the bones and remove the skin. Cut the herring fillet into small pieces, add a little vegetable oil, onions, herbs. This is already according to your taste. Enjoy your meal.
Traditionally boiled potatoes and Borodino bread are served with herring.
Herring can be cut, filled with vegetable oil and stored in a glass container with a tightly closed lid for up to four days.
If you got a lot of fish, then you can freeze some of them.
Also lightly salted fish can be used to prepare everyone's favorite salad – herring under a fur coat.
