Horns in a frying pan

Pasta in a frying pan - quickly, simply and without unnecessary utensils! Traditionally, pasta is cooked in a saucepan, then thrown into a colander, and only then mixed in a frying pan with sauce. I suggest breaking the rules and cooking pasta immediately in a frying pan with vegetables - onions and tomatoes.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare the ingredients for cooking the dish. I advise you to take pasta only from durum wheat, they do not boil, and from others you can get porridge. The number of tomatoes vary according to their size and your taste. I put two, and I could have added a third. Garlic would also be good in this dish, but I couldn't buy it. You can put various spices to your taste in pasta.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Peel the onion from the husk and finely chop it. I have prepared similar recipes when the onion is cut into half rings, you can do that. It's not critical.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Wash and dry the tomatoes. Then cut them into small cubes. You can rub them on a coarse grater - they will still soften in the sauce to a puree state. If desired, you can remove the skin from the tomatoes. There is a great way to do this. First, cut the tomato crosswise on top. Put it in boiling water for a minute, and then immediately transfer it to cold water. From the temperature difference, the skin will easily move away from the pulp and it can be removed.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Preheat a deep frying pan. Choose the size taking into account the fact that pasta will be cooked in it, which tend to increase in size. Pour vegetable oil into the pan. Lay out the onion. Fry the onion over low heat, stirring it for a few minutes, until transparent.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Add tomatoes to the onion. Let the fire remain small. Stir in the tomatoes and onions.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Cover the pan with a lid and simmer the vegetables for 10 minutes.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Tomatoes will become soft, they can be kneaded with a spatula to a puree-like state.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Pour the horns into the pan. Add salt and pepper. Mix the pasta and vegetables. Let them fry together for a few minutes.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Pour the freshly boiled water into the pasta. It should completely cover them. Mix it up. Cook the pasta, stirring occasionally, without a lid, over low heat. After five minutes, try them. If the pasta is not ready yet, and the water has evaporated, add a little boiling water.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

The horns should absorb all the water and become soft, but not boil. To do this, I advise you not to overdo it with water. Be sure to stir the pasta in the process so that they cook evenly. At the end, turn off the heat and cover the pan with a lid. Pasta will absorb the remaining moisture and become even tastier.

The first time I cooked pasta in a frying pan. And I liked this way. Quick, easy, no need to wash the pan afterwards. The horns turned out to be well cooked, they did not boil, but soaked in sauce.
I recommend taking small pasta, such as horns, for this method.
You can cook them without vegetables by putting dry pasta in a frying pan with oil immediately, fry them a little and then cook according to the recipe.
I didn't have enough spices, next time I will definitely add.
When serving, sprinkle the pasta with grated cheese.
