Chocolate Crêpes with Milk
Chocolate crêpes for everyday tea time and for holidays. Thin, soft, and tender chocolate crêpes are delicious on their own, but they also pair beautifully with any sweet filling and are perfect for building all sorts of crêpe cakes.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Measure out the ingredients. For chocolate crêpes with milk you'll need: 600 ml milk; 200 g flour; 100 g dark chocolate; 3 eggs; 1 tbsp cocoa; 1 tbsp butter; 1 tbsp sugar; and a pinch of salt.
-
Step 2:
Break the dark chocolate into small pieces.
-
Step 3:
Put the chocolate in a saucepan and pour in 250 ml of the milk. Set it over low heat and warm it, stirring, until the chocolate fully melts. To deepen the chocolate flavor and aroma, you can add 1–2 tablespoons of cocoa or use bittersweet chocolate.
-
Step 4:
Drop the butter into the hot chocolate mixture and wait for it to melt. For extra aroma, add a pinch of ground cinnamon.
-
Step 5:
In a deep bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar and salt until fluffy.
-
Step 6:
Pour in the remaining milk and stir.
-
Step 7:
Add the sifted flour.
-
Step 8:
Stir until smooth.
-
Step 9:
Pour the milk-and-chocolate mixture into the batter.
-
Step 10:
Stir everything together well. Let the batter rest for 25 minutes.
-
Step 11:
On a hot, lightly oiled skillet, cook the crêpes on both sides — about 1 to 1.5 minutes per side.
-
Step 12:
Stack the finished crêpes on a plate. If you like, brush each one with butter.
-
Step 13:
Serve the chocolate crêpes with any sweet sauce or topping. Enjoy!
- The delicate, velvety texture and incredible flavor will win over anyone, even people who aren't die-hard chocolate lovers. And for those with a sweet tooth and the true chocolate fans, this treat will earn a permanent spot in the kitchen — not just at Maslenitsa (the Russian pancake holiday), but year-round. Plus it's so easy to make! Fill the crêpes with cottage cheese, cream cheese, pieces of fruit, or berries; drizzle them with syrup or melted chocolate; or serve them the traditional way, with sour cream, jam, or honey. If you happen to be a little short on milk, don't worry — just top it up with water to the right volume. You'll just need a touch more flour in that case.
