Cooking method
Any apple varieties are suitable for drying. It is also not necessary to use fruits only of a "presentable" kind. For drying, apples with damage or a small worm will go, they will only need to be cut out. It is better to take sweet and sour apples for drying.
Apples are thoroughly washed and dried. If dried apples will be used only for making compotes and other beverages, then apples can be dried together with seed pods. If various dishes are prepared from dried apples, then it is better to remove the core from them with a knife or a special device for removing seed pods. Cut the apples into thin plates.
Spread the sliced apples on a dry, clean baking sheet with a thin layer, preferably on parchment paper. We put a baking tray with apples in the oven, set the temperature to 60 degrees. We leave the apples alone for an hour. After the specified time, we mix the apples, increase the temperature to 70 degrees. We also leave it for 1 hour. After an hour, mix the dried apples and increase the temperature to 80 degrees. The oven door can be opened slightly. Periodically, apples need to be mixed. In general, the drying process in the oven is about 6 hours, but you need to focus on the condition and taste of dried apples, they should be soft but dry. It is even easier to dry apples in an electric oven, it is enough to set the temperature to 50 degrees, turn on the fan. Apples will be dried in an electric oven for about 10 hours. However, during this time, you still need to check the condition of the apples.
To store dried apples, it is necessary in a canvas or paper bag or in a glass container.
