Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare all the necessary products. Take the hawthorn fresh, freshly harvested. Make sure that the berries are clean, without foreign impurities. I use ordinary white sugar in compotes, but you can also take coconut or cane sugar. They will give the finished drink an additional flavor: in the first case - coconut, in the second - caramel.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Wash the cans well, - it's best to take them with you. Then sterilize in a way that is convenient for you. I just fill the jars with boiling water, first putting it in each metal spoon, then draining the boiling water. You can also use a microwave or oven. I recommend using medium-sized cans - optimally for 2-3 liters. The lids must be boiled.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Go through the hawthorn and rinse well.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Put the hawthorn berries in jars, filling them with 1/3 berries.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Add sugar to the water and bring to a boil over low heat. You can adjust the sweetness to your liking by increasing or decreasing the amount of sugar. Wait until it is completely dissolved and remove from the heat. The syrup is ready. If desired, you can add your favorite spices to the syrup, such as vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg, or even herbs: mint, lemon balm, thyme.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Pour half of the syrup into the jar with berries and leave for 15 minutes.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Drain the syrup from the jar back into the pan and bring to a boil again.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Notice how the color of the berries has changed: they have become some kind of golden. Pour the syrup into the jar, filling it up to the neck.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Close the jars with lids or roll up. Turn the jars over and leave to cool completely.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

This compote is not only very tasty, but also healthy. Bon appetit!

Hawthorn is a real miracle of nature! After all, not only its fruits bring great benefits to the body, but also flowers, lilies and even the bark of this plant.
Fruits are especially rich in organic acids, pectins, tannins, vitamins, flavonoids.
In addition, the fruits of this miracle plant are also low in calories.
