Feijoa berries are round-shaped green fruits. Their peel is very dense, and the inner flesh tastes like a mixture of strawberries, kiwi and pineapple.

In cooking, feijoa is most often used in desserts, salads. It is added to compotes, delicious jam is made from it. These exotic berries are also used in the preparation of various marinades, tinctures and homemade wine.

To prepare a tincture of feijoa at home, you will need first of all the feijoa berries themselves. For the best taste of the finished drink, they should be ripe and even slightly overripe.

Feijoa should be washed well under running water and dried, spreading the fruits on a paper towel. Without peeling, cut the berries into small cubes. Transfer the chopped feijoa to a glass container in which the tincture will be prepared.

Add sugar to a glass container and pour vodka. Shake everything well. The berry mass should be completely covered with liquid. Instead of sugar, you can take the same amount of honey. In this case, it is better to take liquid honey, so that it is easier to mix it with tincture.

Close the glass container with a lid and put the container in a dark, cool place for 2 weeks. Periodically, at least once a day, shake the drink.

After 2 weeks, strain the tincture through several layers of gauze to clear the berry mass - it will no longer be needed. If the berries are left in the tincture, then over time it will acquire an unpleasant bitterness. In addition, after filtering, the tincture turns out to be a beautiful translucent yellow color.

Taste the tincture and add sugar if necessary. If the drink turned out to be too strong - add a little water to it, diluting it. The strength of the finished tincture varies between 33-35%, without adding an additional amount of sugar and water.

It is best to store the drink in a dark, cool place for a year. The taste of the finished feijoa tincture turns out sweet and pleasant, with a slight hint of sourness. Bon appetit!
