Elderberry and Apple syrup

Homemade vitamin drink for the whole family. Elderberry and apple syrup is a great alternative to purchased drinks. This recipe provides for a concentrated preparation, from which it is easy to prepare fresh compote at any time of the year.

Cooking method

1. My elder, if there are twigs left on the berries, they need to be cut off. I wash the apples, cut out the core with seeds.

2. We put the prepared ingredients in a saucepan with a thick bottom, cover with a lid, send it to a very low heat. Cook for 45 minutes, do not add water, apples and elderberries will let the juice during cooking. 

3. Wipe the whole mass through a sieve, the liquid needs to be squeezed out as much as possible. Pour sugar into the resulting juice, squeeze the juice from the lemon, send it to the fire, bring it to a boil, then immediately pour it into pre-sterilized bottles. 

Syrup can be stored in a cold place for a year, and an open bottle for two weeks.The drink is quite concentrated, so before drinking it, it is diluted with cold filtered water or hot boiled.
