Cooking method

Cooking time: 10 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make clove tea? All you really need to track down are whole cloves. In a small pot, bring water to a gentle boil for 10 minutes, keeping the heat low.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Put the loose tea leaves into a glass.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Pour the boiling water over them and cover the glass with a lid (I use a rubber one made specially for steeping tea).

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Wait about five minutes for the tea to steep. Next, strain it: pour the brewed tea into a separate container, ideally a teapot.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

    Add sugar.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Squeeze in some juice from a fresh lemon.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Add the dried cloves as you pour the tea. Drop the cloves in first.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Then pour in the brewed tea, topping it off with hot water if you'd like to adjust the strength.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

Let the tea rest and soak up the aroma of the cloves. Now enjoy a fresh new take on an everyday drink!

  • Delicious and good for you! Why good for you? Because cloves are believed to help with all sorts of minor ailments: they ease breathing, warm you up when you've got a slight chill, and freshen your breath. This fragrant clove tea can quickly take the edge off a migraine or headache and help your nervous system recover. Cloves, whether in tea or a tincture, are a staple of folk remedies the world over — said to relieve physical fatigue and tension, ease muscle cramps, and settle the stomach. I love brewing a pot of this for the whole family in my free time. None of my loved ones ever turns down a cup of this fragrant, invigorating hot drink — afterward you feel a lift in energy, a better mood, and an all-around sense of well-being. You can use honey instead of sugar; just stir it in once the tea has cooled a little.
  • For the best results, use filtered or bottled water with a neutral taste. Tap water can leave an off, characteristic aftertaste.
  • You can use a sugar substitute in place of sugar.
  • Since everyone's preference for sweetness, tartness, saltiness, and so on is different, always adjust the spices and seasonings to your own taste!
