Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 25 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to cook currants through a meat grinder? Prepare the necessary ingredients for cooking. Choose a ripe and strong currant, not wilted and not overripe. To make jam, you will need a saucepan with a thick bottom and a meat grinder.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Prepare the black currant to make jam. Sort the berries, remove the twigs, then put them in a colander and rinse with running water. Dry on paper towels.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Prepare the jam jars. Rinse them thoroughly with soda water or detergent and sterilize. This can be done in any way convenient for you: in the oven, in the microwave or on the stove. Also boil the lids separately.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Pass the prepared currant berries through a meat grinder with a frequent grate. It is better to do this in small portions and be extremely careful.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Pour water into a large saucepan with a thick bottom (or a saucepan if you cook smaller portions), add sugar and put it on the stove. Bring to a boil and cook the syrup for five minutes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Make the heating strong. Put the black currant in the syrup, passed through a meat grinder, mix and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to slightly below average and cook the blackcurrant jam for 15 minutes, periodically removing the foam. Do not forget to stir the jam.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Carefully pour the blackcurrant jam into the prepared jars. Cover with lids and sterilize for about 10 minutes. Close tightly with lids or if you use regular ones, then roll up. Allow to cool completely and put away in a cool dark place. The jam that has just been cooked is liquid, but when it cools down, it becomes thick.

If you cook jam in small portions, then you can put it in jars with lids and store it in the refrigerator without sterilization.

Such jam will perfectly complement breakfast - it can be served with porridge, cottage cheese, pancakes. And besides, it can be used in home baking, or, by diluting with water, to prepare a delicious drink.

Instead of sugar, you can use a sweetener that is not afraid of heat treatment.
