  • Peel and rinse the carrot and onion. Grate the carrot on the large holes of a grater and finely dice the onion. Boil the rice in salted water for 8–10 minutes and let it cool. Sauté the onion and carrot in vegetable oil, then transfer to a plate to cool. Finely shred the cabbage and scrunch it with your hands. Once everything is prepped, add the cooled rice, cabbage, carrot, and onion to the ground meat. Crack in the egg and add the pressed garlic. Mix thoroughly by hand, season with salt and pepper to taste, and add fresh or dried herbs if you like. Shape the mixture into large patties. Make the sauce: stir the tomato paste into the water until smooth. Pan-fry the lazy cabbage rolls on both sides until golden, then pour the tomato sauce over them. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes. The lazy cabbage rolls are ready!
