Lingonberry-apple jelly

This healthy and delicious drink is loved by both adults and children. Since childhood, I loved jelly. I remember my mother often bought dry square briquettes from a dry mixture and cooked fruit and berry jelly. A little later I discovered milk and oatmeal jelly. Well, instead of ready-made store mixes, I started using fresh fruits and apples. This jelly is one of my favorites.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 30 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

Prepare the ingredients. For apple-lingonberry jelly, we will need apples and lingonberries (fresh or frozen), sugar, starch and water. Pour 2 liters of water into a saucepan and put it on fire.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Wash the apples well, cut in half and remove the seeds. Cut each half into slices.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Dilute the starch with the remaining water, and mix thoroughly, breaking up the lumps.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Rinse fresh cranberries in running water and sort. Frozen can not be defrosted.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

As soon as the water starts to boil, pour the cranberries and sugar into the pan. Immediately add apples. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Pour starch into a saucepan with constant stirring in a thin stream. Cook, stirring, for about 5 minutes until thickened. The finished jelly can be filtered.

With such an amount of starch per 2.2 liters of water, the jelly turns out to be quite viscous. If you want the drink to be a little thinner, you can either increase the amount of water or reduce the amount of starch.

Potato starch can be replaced with corn starch, but a little more corn starch may be needed, since it has a weaker thickening effect.

Instead of cranberries or together with it, you can add fresh or frozen cranberries to the drink.

Kissel is rightfully considered one of the most useful and ancient Russian drinks. It is suitable for various diets, since with a small calorie content it has a certain satiety and removes the feeling of hunger. Starch contained in jelly envelops the walls of the stomach and helps in the treatment of various gastric diseases, such as gastritis, ulcers, increased acidity, etc. In addition, recent scientific studies have shown that this simple and delicious drink is able to remove lead, toxins and slags from the body, and essential vitamins and amino acids have a beneficial effect on the whole body.
