Anthill No-Bake Treats from Crackers and Dulce de Leche
Quick, budget-friendly, and easy enough for a kid to make! These Anthill treats made from crackers and dulce de leche (boiled condensed milk) are the simplest, fastest no-bake dessert. They take just two ingredients, yet taste every bit as good as the classic oven-baked version.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make Anthill treats from crackers and dulce de leche? Get your ingredients ready. For this recipe, use unsalted crackers — fish-shaped crackers are best. But it'll work with other crackers too. You can buy the dulce de leche ready-made or cook it yourself at home.
-
Step 2:
First, crush the crackers into crumbs. You can do this right in the bowl with your hands. Mine were a fairly hard variety and wouldn't break up by hand, so I put them in a sturdy bag and crushed them with a rolling pin. Don't make the crumbs too fine — this treat is made with coarse crumbs.
-
Step 3:
Add the dulce de leche to the bowl of crushed crackers. Don't add the whole can at once — start with about 2/3 of it. Mix the cracker crumbs with the dulce de leche until evenly combined. Mine was very thick and hard to stir with a spoon, so I had to knead it with my hands. If the mixture is too dry, add more dulce de leche; if it's too runny, add more crackers. In the end, I used the entire can.

Step 4:
All that's left is to shape the treats. You can simply mold them by hand into a round or cone shape. Or you can use a small glass or shot glass — fill it with the mixture, packing it down firmly with a spoon.
-
Step 5:
Turn the treat out, using a thin knife to help it along. Shape all the treats the same way. This amount made 10 for me. Refrigerate them for an hour, then decorate and serve. You can drizzle them with honey or caramel, or sprinkle them with grated chocolate or nuts. Enjoy!
- We really enjoyed these treats. They come together quickly and taste just like the original. Highly recommended!
- Choose a good-quality, trusted condensed milk — one with no vegetable fats or additives. The ingredient list should have just two things: milk and sugar. The taste and quality of the finished dessert ultimately come down to the quality of the condensed milk.
