- First, boil the liver. Add the onion, carrot, and spices to the water. Cut the carrot into half-moons. Wash the cleaned mushrooms and fry them in oil with pepper and salt. Once the boiled liver has cooled, cut it into small pieces. Strain the broth through several layers of cheesecloth and dissolve the gelatin in it. Take any empty juice carton and layer in it: herbs, carrot, mushrooms, liver. Pour the gelatin broth over everything. Instead of a carton, you can use a 2-quart plastic bottle with the top cut off. Then put the liver aspic in the fridge to set.
