Step 1:
Prepare the ingredients.To make tortillas without flour in a frying pan, we will need: potatoes, yolk (you can take a whole egg), vegetable oil for frying, ground black pepper and salt.
Step 2:
Wash potatoes, peel and grate on a coarse grater. Drain the juice that has been released at the same time.
Step 3:
Add the yolk to the potatoes and mix everything.
Step 4:
Add salt, pepper and mix again until smooth.
Step 5:
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Put a few tablespoons of potato mass in a frying pan, quickly smooth it out and shape it into a round tortilla. Fry the tortilla on both sides until golden brown and put it behind a paper towel to absorb excess fat. Fry the rest of the tortillas in the same way.
Now we can't imagine our table without potato dishes. It is not for nothing that we call it the second bread. However, this was not always the case.
According to the official version, potatoes were brought to Russia quite late, at the very beginning of the XVIII century. This was done by Peter I, who in Holland for the first time tried various potato dishes. Having approved the gastronomic and taste qualities of the product, he ordered the delivery of a bag of tubers to Russia for planting and cultivation.
However, in some sources you can read that it was not like that at all. Allegedly, we knew potatoes before that, it was just that they were not so widespread in our country.
We owe the emergence of such a concept as "potatoes are the second bread" to serious problems in grain cultivation in the middle of the 19th century. Bread was not born, and he needed to find some alternative. Potatoes were suggested as such an alternative. At the same time, the people did not like it. Armed confrontations began, which went down in our history as "potato riots". Now we are not even trying to remove potatoes from the podium. A lot of interesting and diverse dishes make potatoes the most frequently consumed vegetable in our lives.
