Slow-Cooker Shark

Make an exotic dish right in your slow cooker! Shark cooks up quickly and easily this way—the key is to soak the fish beforehand so there's no bitterness or off smell. Keep in mind that shark meat soaks up a lot of moisture, so pat the fish dry thoroughly after marinating to keep it from turning watery. The sauce should come out sweet-and-sour, with the flour just barely thickening it.

    1. Cover the shark pieces with cold water, add the vinegar and lime juice, and refrigerate overnight so the fish marinates and any off smell and bitterness disappear. When the time is up, rinse the fish under running water and pat it thoroughly dry. 2. Pour the vegetable oil and soy sauce into a small bowl, add the honey and ground ginger, and stir. Add the fish to this marinade, leave it for an hour, then pat it dry. Spread the paprika and flour on a plate, mix, and dredge the steaks in it. 3. Pour the vegetable oil into the slow-cooker bowl, select the "Fry" setting, and brown the fish, about 15 minutes per side, then remove it. 4. Peel the onion, slice it into half-moons, put it in the slow-cooker bowl, and dust it with flour. Add the tomato paste and the tomatoes in their juice, season with salt and pepper, and toss in a couple of fresh bay leaves. Switch to the "Stew" setting and set the timer for 30 minutes. 5. After 5–10 minutes, return the shark to the sauce and keep stewing until the timer beeps. Your fragrant, juicy fish is ready! Enjoy!
