Vendace Fish Pie

A really delicious pie for fish lovers! A neighbor recommended this recipe to me—she's been making this vendace pie for years. I used yeast dough, but you can really use any dough you like, such as store-bought puff pastry. The pie comes out with a golden crust and a juicy, fragrant vendace filling. You have to try making it!

    1. Scale the vendace and rinse it. You can cook the fish for the filling by boiling, but frying it makes it even tastier. 2. Pour vegetable oil into a skillet and fry the fish on both sides until golden. Once it has cooled a little, pick out the bones. 3. Peel the potatoes and cut them into 1/4-inch (0.5 cm) rounds. Press one portion of the yeast dough into a greased baking dish. Layer on the potato rounds and season with salt and pepper. Add the fish. If you like, add a fish-seasoning blend and some fresh herbs. 4. Roll out the second portion of dough and lay it over the top. Pinch the edges shut and prick the top all over with a fork. Brush with egg yolk and let the dough rise. 5. Put the pie in the oven and bake at a moderate 350°F (180°C) for about half an hour; the exact time depends on the size of the pie. Once it's golden, take it out. Your pie is ready!
