Lazy cabbage rolls in the oven with gravy

Make a really delicious dinner the lazy way! I love cooking lazy cabbage rolls. There's no need to boil the cabbage, trim out the tough ribs, or roll little envelopes—just chop everything up and you're done! Give this one a try and it'll quickly win you over.

    1. Cut the cabbage into cubes—soft, tender leaves don't need any extra cooking (if you're using older cabbage, pour boiling water over the leaves first and let them sit for about 5 minutes).
    1. Sauté the diced onion and coarsely grated carrot in vegetable oil until soft.
    1. Pour in the tomato juice, simmer for about 5 minutes, then add sugar and salt to taste.
    1. Boil the rice until fully cooked.
    1. Grind the chicken fillet in a meat grinder, crack in the egg, add salt and pepper, then mix in the cabbage (set aside two handfuls) and the boiled rice. Stir everything together.
    1. Line a baking dish with the reserved cabbage (so the rolls won't scorch), then shape the meat mixture into round balls (the size doesn't matter) and arrange them on the cabbage layer.
    1. Pour that bright tomato sauce over everything and bake for 40 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
  • Serve it up and dig in!
