Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to put out chicken with sauerkraut in a frying pan? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Any part of the chicken is suitable for cooking, I took a large chicken leg.
Step 2:
Only real sauerkraut is suitable for cooking this dish. No quick, acetic cabbage will do. If it is acidic, then it can be filled with cold water and let stand for 5-10 minutes. Then flip it into a colander or sieve and rinse under cold water, let the water drain.
Step 3:
Wash the chicken leg, dry it and remove the bones. Cut the chicken fillet into pieces and put it in a bowl. Add tomato paste and crushed garlic to it. Mix everything and leave to marinate for 5-6 hours.
Step 4:
Peel the onion, cut it and put it in a frying pan with vegetable oil. Fry the onion for 5 minutes, stirring.
Step 5:
Put sauerkraut in a frying pan with onions and mix. Pepper everything, sprinkle with sugar and pour in water. Close the lid and simmer for 20 minutes. Make sure that the cabbage does not burn. If necessary, add a little water.
Step 6:
Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat over medium heat. Put the chicken pieces and fry over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring.
Step 7:
Add bay leaf, chopped garlic and mix.
Step 8:
Put the fried chicken pieces on the cabbage. Close the lid again and simmer for another 15-20 minutes until tender, remove from heat and serve.
Step 9:
Boiled potatoes, herbs and fresh vegetables can be served to the chicken with sauerkraut. You can serve it on a plate or, like me, in serving pans. Enjoy your meal.
You can marinate the chicken and less time, for example, half an hour. Or completely abandon marinating, especially if you are sure of the high quality of meat. Then the cooking time will be reduced significantly.
Important! An incorrectly selected frying pan can ruin even the best recipe. All the details on how to choose the perfect frying pan for different dishes read here .
Any oils are useful only until a certain temperature is reached - the point of smoking, at which the oil begins to burn and toxic substances, including carcinogens, are formed in it. How to determine the roasting temperature and choose the best oil for frying, and which one is better not to use at all, read here .
Tomato paste in this recipe can be replaced with tomatoes in their own juice, fresh tomatoes or ketchup.
