Cooking method

Cooking time: 40 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1

How do you make bulgur with ground beef? Gather the ingredients. You can use any kind of ground meat. Rinse the prunes in hot water ahead of time.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2

Peel and rinse the onion and carrot, then chop them. Simply chop the onion; the carrot can be diced or grated.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3

Cut the rinsed prunes into pieces.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4

Heat a skillet until hot and pour in a little vegetable oil. Add the chopped onion and carrot and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring now and then, until the onion turns translucent.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5

Add the chopped prunes to the vegetables in the skillet. Stir and cook everything together for another 2–3 minutes.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6

Then add the ground beef and cook it over high heat until it's completely browned through.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7

Season with a little salt and spices to taste—use whatever you like. I added a bit of ground pepper and paprika.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8

Then add the bulgur and pour in hot water to cover everything. Stir, cover, and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes. In that time the meat finishes cooking and the bulgur softens and plumps up, absorbing all the water.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9

The bulgur with ground beef is done! Stir, spoon onto plates, and serve. Enjoy!

  • Note: the wrong pan can ruin even the best recipe, so pick a skillet that suits the dish.
  • Bulgur is easy, tasty, and versatile to cook with—well worth getting to know.
  • Since everyone's tolerance for salt, sweetness, bitterness, spice, acidity, and heat is different, always add seasonings to your own taste. If you're using a spice for the first time, remember that some are especially easy to overdo (chili pepper, for one).
