- For the meatballs, peel the onion and cut it into small dice. Fry it in sunflower oil until golden. Meanwhile, combine the ground pork, the parboiled (half-cooked) rice, the egg, and the seasonings. Mix in the fried onion and knead the mixture well. With wet hands, shape the meatballs and arrange them in a single layer in a deep skillet. 2. For the sauce, cut the second onion into quarter-rings and grate the carrot on the coarse side of a grater. Fry the vegetables in sunflower oil. Meanwhile, whisk together the water, tomato paste, salt, pepper, and flour. Once the vegetables are fried, stir them into the liquid — and the sauce is ready. 3. Pour the sauce over the meatballs, add the bay leaves, cover, and set to simmer. Once it comes to a boil, cook the meatballs for 30 minutes. Enjoy!
