Navaga stewed in the oven with onions

Delicious oven-baked navaga with a crispy crust. Navaga stewed in the oven with onions will perfectly replace fried fish, it turns out not as greasy as in a frying pan. And there is no need to stand at the stove, be afraid of getting burned with hot oil when turning over or that it will fall apart when turning over.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 50 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

We will prepare all the necessary ingredients for cooking navaga, and we will cook it in the oven by baking. Navaga is sold either whole or gutted without a head. I prefer to buy whole fish and process it myself. In this case, I am absolutely sure that this fish is fresh. Turn on the oven to warm up to a temperature of 180 degrees.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Defrost the navaga in the refrigerator, if required. Then we clean the scales with a knife, this is done very quickly, since it is small and departs well. Then we cut off the fins with scissors, cut off the head and tail. We open the abdomen and remove the insides and necessarily the black film from the inner surface of the abdomen. We wash the navaga under cold water and dry it with a paper towel. If the navaga is large, you can cut it into pieces.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Put our prepared fish in a bowl, salt, pepper and add one tablespoon of vegetable oil, mix. We need navaga to be covered with oil, salt and pepper. Leave to lie down for 5 minutes.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Peel the onion, rinse and cut into half rings. Put the onion in a baking dish, salt and pour 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Mix the onion and level it with an even layer on the bottom of the mold. We need it not only for taste, but also as a pillow so that the fish does not stick to the bottom.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

In a bowl, pour the flour and transfer the fish into it, roll it in flour.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Put the breaded fish in a mold on top of the onion.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Put our mold with navaga in a hot oven and bake for 30 minutes, until ready and golden brown. We take it out of the oven, our baked navaga is ready.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Arrange on plates and serve. Enjoy your meal.
