Step 1:
How to make strudel with cherry puff pastry? Prepare the products. Rinse the frozen cherries with cool water, let the water drain. Leave it to defrost right in the colander. Also, pre-defrost the dough by transferring it from the freezer to the refrigerator. Frozen cherries are usually sold pitted, if you cook from fresh, then remove the pits. Butter will need soft, room temperature.
Step 2:
Chop the nuts in a blender, but not into flour, but so that medium pieces remain. You can just chop them with a knife. Nuts will suit any, take them according to their availability and taste. If the nuts are already peeled, first rinse them, then pat them on a towel and lightly fry in a dry frying pan.
Step 3:
Pour the crushed breadcrumbs into a deep bowl (I usually cook them myself from muffins, it's better not to take them ready for breading, there are yeast and salt in the composition, but they are not needed). Add the chopped nuts, sugar and vanilla sugar, mix the dry mixture well. Sugar may need to take a little more or less, try the cherry, I had not very sour.
Step 4:
Lightly dust the table, dough and rolling pin with flour. Roll out the dough into a rectangular layer 0.2-0.3 cm thick. Thin enough, but to remain strong. Brush or fingers gently lubricate it with soft butter, it is not necessary to melt it, it will taste better this way. Step 5:
Stepping back from the edge by a couple of centimeters, evenly pour half of the dry mixture on the dough, and then a layer of cherries. I had two layers of dough, divide the filling by the number of plates. Then tuck the edges of the opposite sides and gently roll the roll, trying not to leave air. Pinch the seam and transfer the roll to a baking sheet covered with baking paper, seam down. Similarly, prepare the second roll.
Step 6:
Shake the yolk with 1 tbsp.l. milk and grease the top of the rolls with this mixture. Bake the strudels in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. The time may vary depending on the characteristics of your oven.
Step 7:
The roll turns out crispy at first, but quickly becomes soft. Serve it to the table, sprinkled with powdered sugar. Traditionally, strudel is served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy your meal!
If you did not guess the number of cherries (its weight after defrosting is very different from what you expected), then you can add an apple, raisins or other fruits or berries sweeter than cherries.
