Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to bake mackerel in mustard sauce? Prepare the products. Pay special attention to the choice of fish — it should have a uniform skin of silver color, the smell is fresh fishy, without a shower. The eyes are clean, not cloudy. If you bought frozen fish, then defrost it gradually, preferably in the refrigerator, in no case in water, the fish will lose its useful and taste qualities.
Step 2:
Cut off the head and tail of the fish, then cut the abdomen, free it from the entrails and the black film — it is bitter. Cut the carcass into portions.
Step 3:
Put the pieces of fish in a deep bowl.
Step 4:
Peel the onion and cut it into half rings.
Step 5:
Prepare mustard sauce. How to make sauce? Mix mustard, mayonnaise, soy sauce, no need to add salt — there is enough of it in the ingredients. Mustard is not very spicy, tasty, otherwise reduce its amount.
Step 6:
The result will be a sauce of uniform consistency.
Step 7:
Add onion and mustard sauce to the mackerel, mix. Leave the fish to marinate for 20-30 minutes (or longer).
Step 8:
Put the fish together with the sauce and onion in a baking dish.
Step 9:
Bake the dish at 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
Step 10:
Serve hot fish to the table with a side dish or as an independent dish. Mackerel goes well with potatoes and rice. It is also delicious in cold form. Enjoy your meal!
Note that the quality and taste of the finished dish largely depends on the proper defrosting of the ingredients. How to avoid mistakes and choose the best way, read the article about defrosting.
When adding soy sauce to a dish, it is worth considering that it has a rather salty taste. Reduce the total amount of salt, otherwise you risk over-salting.
Keep in mind that everyone's ovens are different. The temperature and cooking time may differ from those specified in the recipe. To make any baked dish successful, use useful information about the features of ovens !
