Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
How to cook compote from dried apples? Prepare the products. It is better to take filtered or bottled water, so the drink will turn out much tastier. Adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. You can cook compote without sugar at all, for young children it is advised to do just that. I always add a slice of lemon at the end of cooking, lemon makes the taste of compote more saturated.
Step 2:
Sort the apples, separating the spoiled ones, and then rinse well under running water in a colander.
Step 3:
Then fill the apples with cold water and leave for half an hour so that they swell. After that, discard the apples again in a colander.
Step 4:
Pour cold water into a saucepan, put the apples in it and put it on medium heat.
Step 5:
Wait until the water boils, add sugar. Then turn down the heat, cover the pan with a lid and cook the compote for twenty minutes.
Step 6:
At the very end, you can add spices — cinnamon stick, cardamom, vanilla — it's all for an amateur. I add a lemon or orange crust, then the compote has a pronounced citrus taste, we like it. Just be sure to remove the lemon after cooling, otherwise the compote may start to taste bitter. Leave the finished compote to infuse for an hour, then it will be even tastier. Serve the compote at the end of lunch or dinner, or for an afternoon snack with fresh pastries. Enjoy your meal!
The recipe for making this drink is very simple, you can also diversify the taste of compote by adding other dried fruits to it: prunes, raisins, dried apricots, dried pears, dried peaches. They will also need to be well washed and soaked before cooking. Depending on what you will cook, the time may increase. Prunes and dried apricots, for example, are cooked longer, and raisins can also be boiled for twenty minutes, as well as apples. If you take honey instead of sugar, then add it to the already almost cooled drink, otherwise all the useful substances contained in honey will be destroyed. Be sure to leave the compote to infuse, then the fruit will fully reveal its taste. And don't cook huge pots, fresh compote tastes better than yesterday.
Instead of sugar, you can use a sweetener that is not afraid of heat treatment.
For cooking, it is better to use filtered or bottled water that is neutral to taste. If you use tap water, keep in mind that it can give the dish an unpleasant characteristic taste.
