No-Bake Wafer Cake with Dulce de Leche
Quick, simple, easy, even a kid can make it! This wafer-layer cake with dulce de leche is a great recipe for a delicious no-bake dessert! You'll need just three simple, affordable ingredients. This kind of cake leaves lots of room for creativity - it's a lot of fun to decorate!
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
How do you make a wafer-layer cake with dulce de leche? Gather the ingredients. I used wafer layers 24 cm in diameter; the package had 10. The butter should be natural, high-quality, and fresh. Use the highest-quality dulce de leche, made from real milk, too. You can make it yourself.
-
Step 2:
Transfer the dulce de leche from the cans into a deep bowl and add the butter. Take the butter out of the fridge ahead of time and let it soften. I prefer to combine the dulce de leche and butter in the bowl right away and stir with a tablespoon, breaking the butter into smaller pieces. That way the butter softens faster and there's less greasy cleanup in the end. Mix the dulce de leche and butter until as smooth as possible.
-
Step 3:
Put a little of the prepared filling on a flat plate and set the first layer on top. The filling between the layer and the plate makes layering easier - the layers won't slide on the dish. Spread the filling in an even layer so it fills all the dimples in the wafer layers. This is very convenient to do with a silicone spatula.
-
Step 4:
Leave a little more filling for the top than for the layers so the top of the cake looks appetizing. Spread a little filling on the sides of the cake too. To let it soak through, put the cake in the fridge overnight.
-
Step 5:
Decorate the finished wafer cake with dulce de leche to your taste. Since this cake is very rich and sweet, fresh berries make a fitting addition.
-
Step 6:
A few fresh mint leaves are never out of place on the finished dish either. Enjoy!
- Choose high-quality, trusted condensed milk, with no vegetable fats or additives. The ingredient list should have just two things: milk and sugar. The taste and quality of the finished dish will ultimately depend on the quality of the condensed milk.
