Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Prepare all the necessary products. Actually, for the preparation of cabbage leaves for cabbage rolls, we only need cabbage. It doesn't matter what kind of cabbage it will be: young, old harvest, or even Peking cabbage. Only the cooking time will be different: young and Savoy cabbage will be ready in less time than cabbage of the old harvest. Take a dense and elastic head. Be sure to wash the cabbage well, preferably even with a brush.
Step 2:
Remove the top 2-3 leaves from the cabbage. They are always usually damaged and dirty. With a long sharp knife, make several deep incisions around the stalk. In principle, it can be removed immediately, but it will be more convenient to do this when the cabbage is ready and becomes softer.
Step 3:
Put the cabbage in a cellophane bag, tie it tightly. You can also wrap cabbage with cling film.
Step 4:
Put the cabbage in a bag in a dish suitable for use in a microwave oven. I remind you that in such furnaces you can not use metal dishes, as well as dishes with shiny ornaments. Due to the use of such dishes, the microwave oven may spark during use and may even catch fire. But glass, ceramic and paper dishes are allowed for use.
Step 5:
Put everything in the microwave. The cooking time depends on the power of your stove. I have a microwave power of 1000 and a cooking time of 15 minutes, with a power of 800, the cooking time will be 20 minutes, and with a power of 600, it will be 25 minutes. When the oven turns off, leave the cabbage in it for another 5 minutes and only then take it out. To extract the head from the microwave, use mittens, because the dishes will be very hot.
Step 6:
Take the head out of the bag, - carefully, do not get burned! Allow to cool slightly and remove the stalk completely. Cabbage turns out to be very soft. Carefully separate the sheets from each other and start cooking cabbage rolls!
