Wontons

Original, spicy, unusual taste and design. Wontons are a well—known dish of Chinese cuisine. They look like dumplings, they are minced meat wrapped in dough. The wontons are steamed or deep-fried. I suggest you try the steam version, which is suitable for everyone — both children and adults.

Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 1 h
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make wontons? Prepare the products. Chicken minced meat can be used both ready-made and self-made. If you don't find fresh ginger, take it in powder form. Wash and dry the greens.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

First prepare the filling. How to make the filling? Finely chop the bacon, add it to the minced meat. Peel a small piece of ginger root (2x2 cm), then grate it on a fine grater into minced meat. Season with salt and pepper. Keep in mind that soy sauce will also be added, do not put a lot of salt.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Finely chop a few green onion feathers and parsley sprigs. Add to the minced meat. Pour in the soy sauce.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Separate the protein from the beetle. Add the protein to the minced meat, leave the yolk for now, it will come in handy later. Knead the minced meat well until smooth. The filling is ready.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Prepare the dough. How to make dough? Boil the water. Sift the flour into a bowl. With constant stirring, pour boiling water into the flour, add salt, add oil. Knead the dough. Be prepared for the fact that flour may need more or less than indicated in the recipe. Focus not on the amount of flour, but on the desired consistency of the dough.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

The dough turns out to be very elastic and soft, let it lie in a plastic bag for about 30 minutes.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Sprinkle the board with starch. Divide the dough into sausages on it, which then cut across. Roll out each piece very thinly into a round juicer. This dough allows you to roll out the tortillas very thinly, literally to transparency. On each juicer, draw a circle with yolk — as in the photo.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Put the filling in the center and connect the edges with a bag, leaving the top open — that's what the yolk was needed for, it will glue the dough. This is how blanks for steam wontons are formed, if you are going to fry them, then glue the bags tightly.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

Place the wontons on the grate of the steamer greased with sunflower oil and put it over boiling water. Cook the wontons for 15 minutes for a couple. They can also be cooked in an electric steamer or a slow cooker.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Serve ready-made wontons immediately, hot, with soy sauce. Bon appetit!

To avoid mistakes when working with flour, read about flour and its properties!

Be sure to wash the eggs before use, as even the seemingly clean shell may contain harmful bacteria. It is best to use food detergents and a brush.

When adding soy sauce to a dish, it is worth considering that it has a rather salty taste. Reduce the total amount of salt, otherwise you risk over-salting.
