Do you want to surprise your guests by serving unusual food to the table? A mysterious snack that looks like one dish, but is actually quite another? Then, this cooking recipe is for you. Because no one will ever think that squid are hiding inside small bagels.
Gut the squid, clean, remove the tentacles, if there are any, and carefully peel off the thin pink skin. Bring salted water to a boil in a saucepan and put the cleaned hoods of squid into it. Boil the squid as usual, no longer than 3-5 minutes, so that they do not become rubbery. Drain the water, cool the squid and cut into rings no thicker than half a centimeter.
Beat the whites with a mixer to a strong foam. Mix flour with beer, salt and add vegetable oil. Then carefully introduce the whipped whites and mix everything. It is better if we have a thicker batter, so that the rings take the shape of bagels. In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil for deep frying until smoke appears. There should be a lot of oil so that the rings drown in it.
Dip the squid in the batter and fry on both sides until golden brown. We take out the finished rings and put them on a paper towel to remove excess fat.
Served as an appetizer for beer.
