Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 3 hours
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make compote from dried fruits without sugar? To do this, you will need, directly, dried fruits and water themselves. You can choose any dried fruits to your taste. You can cook a compote from one thing or from an assortment. I have a wide variety of dried fruits - prunes, raisins, dried apricots, apples... All of them are sweet enough, which will give the taste of the finished compote a natural sweetness. Sort the dried fruits and remove the twigs and leaves, if any.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

Oddly enough, high-quality dried fruits always have an unsightly appearance - they are very wrinkled with various spots. And there is enough pollution on them. This is what suggests that the fruit was simply dried. All dried fruits should be filled with hot water and allowed to stand for 5-7 minutes. This will help to clean them from contamination. Then rinse the dried fruits several more times in running water. Drain the excess water, throwing the dried fruits into a colander.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Transfer the washed product to a saucepan of a suitable size, fill with water and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat and cook the compote for 30 minutes.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Don't rush to drink the compote right away. Let it brew. It would be ideal to let the compote cool down in this form right in the pan. This will make the taste of the finished compote more saturated.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Strain the finished, cooled compote and pour it into a decanter. I usually pour the compote into a colander and remove all the fruit. And the second time I filter through a fine sieve or gauze to remove all the pulp completely.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Dried fruit compote is ready! There is enough available sweetness in it. If desired, you can add a spoonful of honey to the mug. This compote is very tasty both hot and cold. Have a nice treat!

For cooking, it is better to use filtered or bottled water that is neutral to taste. If you use tap water, keep in mind that it can give the dish an unpleasant characteristic taste.
