Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Since we will make cranberries on syrup for wetting, we will start working with it. You can do it without sugar, but the flavor of the spices that we will use (cinnamon, cloves) will be revealed better with the addition of sugar. Someone adds vanilla, ginger, honey, etc. to the syrup, but it's a matter of taste. Put sugar and spices in a saucepan, fill with water and put on fire. When the water boils, stir until the sugar dissolves. Then turn off the fire and let the syrup cool down.
Step 2:
It is better to use fresh cranberries for wetting, but you can make such a preparation from ice cream. The main thing is to sort out the berries well, remove crumpled and damaged berries, rotten, garbage and leaves. But if a few leaves fall into the jar, then it's okay, they also have useful properties. The berries are washed well in a colander under running water. Let the water drain completely from the berries.
Step 3:
Put the berries in clean, sterilized and dried jars of the desired volume. Berries can be put in half a jar and a full jar, depending on how many people want to get ready-made berries and syrup, what volume are used for harvesting cans, the main thing is that the syrup completely covers them.
Step 4:
Pour the berries with chilled syrup and close with sterilized lids or roll up with a typewriter. Cans of soaked cranberries are stored in a cool place. After a week, a jar of soaked lingonberries can be opened and tasted, but it becomes tastier after a longer exposure.
Step 5:
Soaked cranberries are stored in the refrigerator (before opening the jar) for up to six months, preserving all vitamins and useful trace elements. After opening the jar, the berries also do not deteriorate for a long time, but it is better to use them quickly, because the aroma and taste will still get worse, and the useful properties will decrease. Berries can be used in pastries, sauces, hot dishes and salads or eaten as a dessert. Bon appetit!
