- How do you make porridge with powdered milk? In a cup, mix the powdered milk with cold water, add the sugar and salt, and stir. Bring the milk mixture to a boil, then turn down the heat. Pour in the measured farina in a thin stream, stirring constantly so it doesn't form lumps. Cook over low heat, stirring all the while, until the porridge thickens. Then turn off the heat and let it sit, covered, for 15 minutes. Serve with jam and butter if you like. Enjoy!
