    1. Scale the cod and cut off the head, tail, and fins. Slit the belly and clean out the insides. Wash the fish well, put it in a pot, and cover with cold water so the whole fish is submerged. Add a pinch of salt, set it over the heat, and cook for 15–20 minutes. Lift the cooked cod out of the broth, let it cool a little, separate the fillet from the bones, and cut it into small pieces.
    1. Peel and finely chop the onion, fry it in vegetable oil until lightly golden, and add it to the cod. Wash the dill, pat it dry with paper towels, chop it with a knife, and add it after the onion. Season with salt to taste and stir the filling together.
    1. Roll out the thawed pastry (about 3/4 of it), sizing it to your baking dish, and set aside the remaining 1/4 to decorate the top of the pie.
    1. Spread the filling over the base and smooth it out. Form the reserved pastry into flat strips and lay them over the pie. I had a couple of leftover strips that I rolled up into nice little roses :)
    1. Brush the top of the pie with egg yolk and bake in an oven preheated to 350°F (180°C) until nicely golden.
  • Let the pie cool, cut it into portions, and serve.
  • Help yourself and enjoy!
