    You'll need: grapes, water, sugar, and a pot.

    Rinse the grapes and pull them off the stems.

    Bring the water to a boil.

    Add the grapes.

    When the water comes back to a boil (the grapes will float up), add the sugar.

    It's not even cool yet and we're already reaching for a cup — even warm, it's delicious! I make this compote for my little daughter. It's a great stand-in for the store juices she got hooked on: I take a carton and straw from any juice box she's had before, cut the hole a little wider, and pour in the compote. You can't tell the difference! I serve it to her warm. It's wonderfully fragrant and a beautiful color.

  • When I have apples and raspberries on hand, I add them to this compote — even tastier and more wholesome!
