Red Currant and Orange Jam
Tasty and good for you. The kids will love it! Which of us didn't have a mom or grandma insist on how good red currants are for you? In summer we ate that "goodness" straight off the bush, and in winter it came to the table as sweet jam topped with pink foam. But plain jam won't impress today's kids and grandkids—so let's make it special! We'll combine fragrant summer with citrusy winter: currants and orange. And we'll spoon up our vitamins by the heaping spoonful!

- Strip the currants from their stems, sort them, and rinse them in a colander. Pat them dry. Cut the washed oranges into small pieces, peel and all. Grind the oranges and the berries in a meat grinder or food processor. Combine the currants, oranges, and sugar and stir. Let it sit for half an hour so the sugar fully dissolves in the juice. Blend the berry-and-fruit mixture once more until smooth. Bring it to a boil over low heat, stirring. Don't let it boil hard—otherwise the jam loses vitamins and nutrients. Once cooled, transfer the red currant and orange jam to sterilized jars and store it in the fridge.
