Step-by-step cooking

Cooking time: 50 min
  1. Step 1:

    Step 1.

How to make a herring under a carrot coat? First of all, prepare all the necessary products. Wash the potatoes thoroughly with a sponge or brush and boil in the peel until tender. Drain the boiling water and cool the tubers. Herring fillet is better to use lightly salted, with it the salad will turn out tastier.

  2. Step 2:

    Step 2.

So, peel the onion and carrot and rinse in cold water. Wash the champignons and dry them with paper napkins.

  3. Step 3:

    Step 3.

Cut each mushroom in half, and then chop each half into thin plates.

  4. Step 4:

    Step 4.

Chop the onion as finely as possible, and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

  5. Step 5:

    Step 5.

Peel the cooled potatoes and grate them on a coarse grater.

  6. Step 6:

    Step 6.

Heat 10-20 grams of vegetable oil in a frying pan and send the mushrooms to fry. Add a pinch of salt. Cook until the mushrooms have a golden hue. A minute before the end of frying, I added quite a bit of finely chopped onion, so the mushrooms, in my opinion, turn out tastier and more fragrant.

  7. Step 7:

    Step 7.

Remove the champignons in a separate container, if necessary, add a little more vegetable oil to the pan. Send the onion and carrot to fry.

  8. Step 8:

    Step 8.

Cut the herring fillet into small cubes. If there are small bones, remove them.

  9. Step 9:

    Step 9.

It remains to assemble the salad. You can do this using a serving ring or a salad bowl with a wide, large bottom. Put the potatoes in the first layer.

  10. Step 10:

    Step 10.

Brush with enough mayonnaise. If you use too little mayonnaise, then the salad will turn out dry. Next, lay out the herring.

  11. Step 11:

    Step 11.

The next layer is mayonnaise and fried mushrooms.

  12. Step 12:

    Step 12.

Brush the champignons with mayonnaise and make the fried carrots and onions with the last layer. Decorate the salad to your taste and send it to the refrigerator to infuse for a while.

There were no eggs in the original recipe. I rubbed one egg on a fine grater with the final layer and sprinkled them with carrots and onions.

You can decorate the salad in any way. From the greenery, build, for example, a Christmas tree. Christmas balls can be made from multicolored Bulgarian pepper. The egg white will make a beautiful and appetizing "snowball".

To your taste, next time I would increase the number of potatoes a little and add another egg.

Mix the salad in your plate and enjoy a new taste!

Bon appetit!

It's better to prepare mayonnaise yourself. It will be tastier and healthier. See here interesting recipes for homemade mayonnaise.
Also, as a dressing, you can use not only mayonnaise, but also sour cream or natural yogurt. They can be taken separately or mixed with mayonnaise in any proportion to your taste - this will reduce the calorie content of the dish.
