Step-by-step cooking
Step 1:
Wash the pearl barley and transfer it to a thermos.
Step 2:
Pour boiling water over the cereal, not reaching 3-4 cm to the neck.
Step 3:
Close the thermos well and leave for 4 hours.
Step 4:
Pour boiling water over the poppy and raisins, cover the poppy. Leave for 1 hour.
Step 5:
Chop the nuts (in a mortar, knife or rolling pin).
Step 6:
Drain the water from the poppy, mix it with sugar.
Step 7:
Grind the poppy in a mortar until light juice appears.
Step 8:
Drain the raisins. Add a little hot water to the honey and mix.
Step 9:
Drain the water from the pearl barley, transfer the swollen grits to a convenient bowl. Add honey, poppy seeds, raisins and nuts.
Step 10:
Mix the kutya well and transfer it to a festive dish. If you like kutya with liquid, add more water to the honey.
