Sweet Noodle Babka (Noodle Pudding)

This sweet noodle casserole is great for breakfast — kids and grown-ups both love it! My mom made this for me and my brother when we were little, and we adored the treat. Now that I'm grown, I bake it for my own kids, but I still love a slice with tea myself. Give it a try!

  • Boil the pasta until tender and drain it well in a colander. Transfer it to a pot or a metal or ceramic bowl. Add the butter, the regular sugar, and the vanilla sugar. Mix everything well. You can use less sugar — go by your own taste. I like my babka quite sweet, so I use this much. Let the pasta cool while you crack 10 eggs into a separate bowl. Whisk them until frothy, pour over the cooled pasta, and stir. Grease a baking dish with butter. Add the pasta-and-egg mixture and bake in a preheated 350°F (180°C) oven for half an hour. While the babka bakes, make the topping: whisk together the remaining eggs, sour cream, and sugar (to taste). After half an hour, take out the dish, pour the topping over the casserole, and return it to the oven for another half hour. The babka is ready. Enjoy!
