Prunes Stuffed with Walnuts in Wine
An original, fragrant dessert that's ready in half an hour! Worth noting: since all the alcohol cooks off during heating, this dessert is fine to serve to absolutely everyone. If you have a semi-sweet red wine on hand, you can use less sugar. Feel free to experiment with different wines, too — each one gives the dessert a new note.
Cooking method
-
Step 1:
Prep the ingredients. Rinse the prunes thoroughly and, if they have pits, remove them.
-
Step 2:
Shell the walnuts and break them into whole quarter-pieces. Carefully tuck a quarter-piece of walnut inside each prune.
-
Step 3:
Put the stuffed prunes in a heatproof dish and pour the wine over them.
-
Step 4:
Then add the sugar. The next step can be done two ways. The first: simply simmer the prunes in the wine on the stovetop for 10 minutes over low heat, then set them in a cool place to steep overnight.
-
Step 5:
The second way: put the wine-soaked, nut-stuffed prunes in the oven for nearly an hour at 320°F (160°C), then set them in a cool place overnight as well.
-
Step 6:
Enjoy!
