  • There are plenty of fish soup recipes on the site, but I couldn't find this one, so I'm glad to share a simple recipe for a delicious soup. Here goes... Put the water on the stove, and meanwhile prep your ingredients. Wash and peel all the vegetables. Dice the onion, grate the carrot on the coarse side of a grater, and sauté them together in oil for about 5 minutes. Cut the potatoes into cubes. Mash the sardines with a fork and remove any bones (I usually buy them in oil, but this time I wasn't paying attention and grabbed a can in tomato sauce — it didn't hurt the soup at all). Beat the raw egg (I use a shaker). When the water boils, add the potatoes and cook for 10 minutes, then add the sautéed vegetables and cook 10 minutes more. Add the sardines, salt, and pepper, drop in a few allspice berries (and a bay leaf if you have one — I didn't), and cook another 5 minutes. Then pour the egg into the boiling soup in a thin stream, stirring briskly so it forms fine threads rather than big clumps. Keep it on the heat for another 2 minutes, turn off the burner, stir in the fresh herbs (I used green onion), and cover. The soup is ready! Enjoy!
