Cooking method
- Bring the milk to a boil with the sugar and vanilla, then take the pan off the heat. Whisk the yolk, add 2–3 tablespoons of the hot milk, and stir quickly. Pour the tempered yolk back into the pan of milk, whisking as you go. Set the pan over very low heat. Whisking the milk continuously, add the dough a small piece at a time, stirring the cream smooth after each addition before adding the next piece. Keep going until all the dough is used up. The custard is ready.
