  • Just say the words "sweet red bell pepper" and anyone will picture summer — hot and overflowing with all kinds of vegetables. In the cold months we crave that flavor even more. Here's a recipe that will delight any home cook who loves to treat their family, and you'll put it together in no time. Everyone will love it! For our red pepper salad, the star of the show is, of course, the red bell pepper, and we'll pair it with something else tasty and filling. So, cut up the pepper — however you like it, finely diced or in strips, whatever suits you. Add a can of beans; red kidney beans are perfect, matching the color of our star ingredient. Slice up some ham, too — as I mentioned, you can swap in cooked meat, crab sticks, or whatever you fancy. Mix it all together, then add grated garlic and finely chopped fresh herbs. Dress it with sour cream and come to the table! Oh, what a treat it turns out to be. And by the way, you can build on this base with whatever's in the fridge — there's always some "extra" ingredient on hand. A tomato, or even a pickled cucumber, would fit right in!
